Very sensitive to cold but haven't noticed anything unusual with heat. Would you share your other symptoms and how long it took to be diagnosed?

I had a flare up early this week but it resolved itself quickly. Tired, sore with back aches after eating meals. Do you have any of those symptoms? What, if any, treatment was offered? Glad to have you here... though many others have had the disease longer and more seriously as far as symptoms and hopefully some will chime in soon..

Yes, I am sensitive to the cold and the heat, also. My rheumy said the sun is what affects the condition, not heat. I've explained to him that the heat is what's intolerable many times, not the sun - I swell, I ache all over, and I'm drained. And these are on the days I either stay out of the sun completely or wear a wide brimmed hat, slathered in 100 spf. What do you experience in the heat? I hope you find solace in your diagnosis. There are many treatment plans that can help with your symptoms, I hope you find one that works for you soon.

Recently diagnosed as well, although most likely 7 years as well! I'm not sensitive to heat, but very sensitive to cold. The AC hitting my skin is actually misery at times. Yet, I find it strange that I love the heat more. I live in S FL and used to do anything to stay out of the sun. Now, it's the opposite. I feel lime I'm becoming cold blooded lime a reptile, lol. Have been on Humira about 2 years. Before that, Enbrel and Cymzia. Just took 2 short courses of Prednisone as I've been in a most horrible flare (stress most likely). My rheumy recently gave me Plaquenil but I'm too afraid to take it. I've only ever had sight in one eye and the side effects terrify me. This whole disease is scaring me to be honest. I was extremely active and this is totally cramping my style! Don't know what to expect or how to deal with this. I'm by myself basically as my husband passed at a young age, so I rely on myself a lot. Sorry for going on, just so glad to meet others who are going through this too. Raynauds is my main symptom and what caused me to be tested for ANA and the diagnosis of MCTD. I’m very sensitive to cold (a/c is awful). Thankfully I live in Florida.

I have a sensitivity to sun but not heat.

Currently not on meds except blood pressure medication (supposed to help Raynauds)

I started with Raynaud's.. My neurologist diagnosed it. I was seeing him for ocular migraines at the time. Then was dx'd with fibro a few years later. Was having pain in the top portion of my foot and the MRI showed bone marrow edema. Following that, the dx of RA, and now MCTD. My PCP kept telling me she thought there was more going on than my Rheumy was treating me for, and finally took my blood results, on the side, to a Rheum. friend of hers. Later ,my Rheum told me I had the DS DNA and the lupus as well. Eating completely nonprocessed, mainly veggies, fruits, fish and chicken and exercising regularly, but I have to say, it's extremely hard with fatigue and pain. I am pushing myself constantly for fear if I stop, I'll be done for. I just want my life back! I've been feeling like I can't get out of a flare, even with prednisone... don't know what to do.. The funny thing is, I look like the picture of health, lol.

I distinctly remember my first flare 7 years ago. My joints were killing me and I could barely walk. I have since had 4. They last from six to nine months. I used to be treated with NSAIDs but this current flare, before diagnosis I moved from 100mg to 600mg with no pain relief. At that point I saw a different GP who referred me to a specialist and I finally got a diagnosis. I'm now on metrothoxate, hydrochloriquine, predenisolene, folic acid and nefidepine. My joints are better. I can now walk. I can swallow. My hands and feet were always sensetive to cold. I just thought it's who I was. But the heat is I can't wrap my hands round a hot coffee cup or touch even warm surfaces. I need everything to be mild

i love the outdoors, but for the past 8 or so years i tend to swell when i am in the heat . my hands stomach legs and feet. last year i went to my heart dr after gaining 11 lbs in 2 days. he put me on lasix 40 mg 2x daily and it was gone as fast it came on. i dont tolerate cold like i use to because of pain mostly. but this has only been 2 or 3 yrs with the cold. my toes and fingers especailly. my toes do change colors purplish. not my fingers though. is this what is meant by cold and heat intolerance?
