New to MCTD

Hello everyone,

I am so glad to have found this site. I have been recently diagnosed with MCTD this past January. I have seen several doctors and they all said I had lupus, but they were unable to diagnose me for sure. I have been struggling with many different ailments for the past 5 years. I finally got to see the most amazing doctor that lives 8 hours away from where I live. He told me within the first 30 minutes of meeting with him, that I have MCTD. Wow, was I taken back. I knew nothing about this disease, and I am so afraid to pursue in looking it up. I thought I would ease myself into this support group for any of my questions. And I do have a lot. Please be patient with me, I am very scared. Look forward to meeting you all.

First off- welcome to our little group. There is much to be learned and a good place to vent!
Start off by reading some of our past posts. There is a wealth of info there that is just to be had by the click of a button! Then, just keep in touch as new stuff comes up all the time.

Hello and Welcome! I took many years for me to get a diagnosis and a doctor I trust. After that came the challenge of living with MCTD and managing the symptoms. This group is a great help. So good to know we are not alone in this since this SLE is not common and there is no easy fix. Ask questions but in the end be your own health advocate. Each of us has a unique set of symptoms and they seem to change often. I always feel like I'm following a herd or errant sheep trying to keep them headed on the right path. Not an easy task but doable. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Sad, that you also suffer from the same unpredictable disease like the rest of us here, but you have certainly come to the right place to exchange experiences and to to find better ways forwards !
Here we have the opportunity to share our experiences about this rare disease and we can find out much about helpful tricks, how to keep the flare-ups as much in check as possible...
