Mouth sores???

It has been about 2 weeks where my tongue is very sensitive to foods and drinks touching it. The best way to describe it, it looks like my tongue is peeling in circular dots. The back of my tongue has large bumps, not really all that sore, but very strange looking. Any feedback about this would be great.

Could be geographic tongue but most likely thrush. If eating yougert doesnt help you can get some liquid med from the Dr that will cure it up. But having autoimmune disorders can just plain give you mouth sores when you flare up.

Thanks Mary Ann. I have never heard of the term "geographic tongue" but I will try some yogurt. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post.

I had this a lot in the beginning when I was on prednisone!! Once I got the prednisone dose lower it was better. My Dr still asks and checks my mouth every time for sores. I have a "redness" in the roof of my mouth with a fancy name lol that the dentists freaked about but the Rheumy said you see it with Lupus. Good Luck Michelle

Hello. I just got through with taking the liquid medicine from the doctor for thrush. My tongue was very sore and swollen. It did not even occur to me that it could be thrush. The medicine took care of it within a few days . I did not try the yogurt but it probably would have worked. I hope the problem resolves quickly.

Unfortunately I had some battles with such flare-up-expressions as well and it can be embarrassing in a relationship...
Hopefully yours vanishes soon as well, when this flare-up has cleared up again.

Yes, have had them for over 30 years. I've read it's part of the SLE. Initially I had a liquid antibiotic I used as a mouthwash and followed it with liquid benadryl. Now I just use the benadryl. I found certain things like sugar bring them on. I changed my diet dramatically eliminating sugar completely and it helped a lot.

Sounds like geographic tongue to me too. I get it randomly. Can't really find a specific cause. Sorry you're getting it. Very annoying.

i get sores in my mouth too...mine are more like cold sores :( What I do is take equal parts liquid benadryl and kayopectac (diahrerra med) all OTC. Works WOnderful!
