I forgot to say, my hands are retaining fluid. Is this part of MCTD? If so, what treatments work?

The fluid retention and feelig like your bones are broken is what I have during a flare. I have to tell you that I have to take the plaqunenil all the time and the prednisone for flares or it is just constant at this point. I know that isn't what you want to hear...

I take plaquenil and meloxicam for the pain. Meloxicam is a daily anti-inflammatory. Has your doc suggested anything like that? I tried a few different ones but it has helped the most.

If you want to try a natural anti inflammatory, try turmeric......it might be enough so that you won't need steroids.

I want to try some supplements some directly related to my IPF but I had not heard of turmeric anything that works for inflamation should be good what form do you take it in pill?

I have been trying just about everything
and unfortunately I have been allergic to each and every medication
and "have to sit out" every flare-up without any medication
and without any medical help.
(You can imagine what I am going through..)
These untreated flare-ups have made my body over-sensitive
over the years and very fragile as a consequence .
My body seems to collapse at the slightest opportunity
and I have to take a long rest in bed.or on the sofa every time.

That - as you can imagine - is extremely frustrating
and I would ldearly ove to know of any opportunities
to assist my body in a flare-up with natural anti-inflammatories
if that could be ossible.

How does Tumeric work? What is the daily dosage of it?
Which way is it to be taken? Medicaton or natural?
Has the dosage to be taken according to the weight of the patient?
(My weight is 53-54 kg at 167cm and I am very slim
and I still go regularly for walks/exercises as much
as I possible can under the circumstances.

Can anyone please give me some idea about Tumeric?
Are there any allergic reactions known about how people with drug-intolerance and allergies (like myself) react to tumeric?

What is your experience with it, brunob?

how long have you been takne it and how did you find out about it?

I take plaquenil and Celebrex as daily preventative maintenance for my disease and sx's. I feel like if I take this dalpily regimen than flares are less often. I do swell from time to time but just try to watch sodium intake and drink lts of water

I take plaquenil every day and can't do without it. I've been taking it over 4 years and haven't had any problems with it, and I do consider it a wonder drug.

I am struggling with prednisone as well. It is a necessary evil? I am trying to find the minimum dosage that I can be on and still get some benefit. I have a Primary Immune Disease as well and et thrush from the damned pred as well as getting bloated. I hate it.
But, it is the only thing that keeps that 'broken wrist' pain at bay. I cannot take the celebrex... I'm allergix.

I am definitely interested in learning more about tumeric. Thanks to all for the responses.

I went to a naturopath and he set the dose......it comes in capsule form and you can cook with it.....if you like curries (I don't)......the spices in curiies are all good for inflammation and pain.

I was taking 2 caps per day.......I am out right now and need to get more.

Personally I didn't notice any difference, but I am also still on a low dose of pred.

I try to cook with Tumeric but not enough that it makes a difference. I tried the pills and I was still in pain but I was in a rough patch at the time. I honestly would say try giving up gluten for 2 weeks and see how you feel. I know it seems trendy right now and has a lot of hype but it is really the answer for me- If I slip and have something I will pay for it...

I do take tumeric when I'm hurting, but have to say I don't see any huge help. It's not like taking a codeine. I think it is possible to be allergic to just about anything, but people have been eating tumeric every day in India for thousands of years. What I have read is that it is supposed to be as effective for pain as Advil. It's unlikely to harm you and it might help.
