Have others with Mctd experienced blood stained mucous ?
This is a new symptom along with a number of chest infections and shortness of breath. The doctor can't find why I have reduced lung function with poor gas exchange awaiting test results from vq scan and others .I am thinking scleroderma he thinks pe but from what I read I don't think that happens on a episodal basis . Just would like answers besides the Mctd I have Sjogrens and mild bronchiectasis

That happened yesterday and I was having chest pains today. I am pretty sure it was anxiety from the response I received yesterday.
I do think it's important to rule out PE, and more people get episodic, low-grade PEs than one might think. I am glad your doctor is looking into that, because that is potentially serious. I am interested in what Mary Ann thinks, because she is a nurse. My friends who are EMTs tend to believe that PEs are usually large and serious, but there are lots of people in the DVT group on DS who have had small, scattershot PEs.
Here in Los Angeles, the air is so bad that not only am I having trouble breathing, I think it's also making my check engine light come on. Seriously.
This is the kind of thing, though, where you always want to consider going to the ER or urgent care if it continues or gets worse. And take it real easy... if you do have an infection, you want to knock it out fast. If you're also on prednisone, be even more careful. Let us know how it goes, thinking positive thoughts as well.
BTW, I noticed you were friends with Jaqueline. Have you heard from her in the past few years? I should send her a message.
Thanks for the reply .I had been on various antibiotics for chest infection for near on a month .I too had ruled out completely what the consultant said about PE! As I saw that as more a crisis serious happening .I have had Sob for quite some time so thought admittedly that this was more severe and the rib pain awful that it might be scleroderma.He said it wasn't Interstial lung problems .
I see the consultant on the tenth and the pain in my ribs has eased a lot though still there I cough bloody mucous now and then ie a few times a week ,and being exhausted is just normal for me .
I haven't heard from Jacqueline in a long long time I miss her but understand that some of us spend long periods away from the board.I will send her a message though too. The site is such a sanctuary for helping people to rationalise or just get support and the people are always so kind .
Weather here is good ole blighty weather sunshine and showers very humid lately not great for those with allergies .

Bronchiactasis can cause blood tinged sputum. Usually, antibiotics will help, but sometimes it just goes with the extreme coughing episodes. You should be checked for TB, though. If you are on immunosuppressants like steroids or Plaquenil, you can be more prone to TB. Hope your Dr helps!

It is probably more to do with the Sjogrens then the Mctd ..Started the docycycline and nasal sprays hopefully the inflammation will clear now although I must have been on various other antibiotics for a full six weeks and more.
