I wanted all of you to hear the story I heard yesterday from a 96 year young man.
Our pianist did not show up for church. The 96er plays for a small congregation on Saturday evening, so I called him at 8:15 AM and asked him to step in. He said he would be there in a few. He played what he had played the night before and the choir muddled along.
Afterwards, I thanked him and asked if I had gotten him out of bed. This is what he said.
"It is getting harder and harder to get up in the morning. Some mornings, I think I will just lie there until I feel like getting up. Since I never feel like getting up, I realized that I could just sleep all day. But, if I do that, then I would just die in bed. Since I am not ready to go yet, I just get up. I dont feel any different when I am out of bed, so what is the difference? Then I do something. Every evening I decide what I want to do the next day. That gets me up too!
I hired a 17 year old young man to help me in the yard. He came over on Saturday just hanging his head and shuffling his feet. I asked him what was wrong and he just said he was tired. I just laughed and told him the world was run by tired people and he might just as well get used to it!"
I have trouble getting out of bed myself as do many of us. Maybe we should listen to my friend. Maybe we will live to be 96 years old and still be playing our instruments or working in our yards!

Lucky for me I have a new puppy, so that gives me something new to look forward to.

My husband reminds me to listen to my body and that I am not lazy. I slept until 2:00pm yesterday.
The day before, I was tired at work, but that is pretty common. I got home and wanted to lay on the bed for 5 minutes with my dog. I woke up 4 hours later.
So this is common?
