Frequent UTIs.....anyone else?

I am so incredibly frustrated!!!   I am gong on my 7th round of antibiotics in just a few months.   I keep on testing pos. for a specific Urinary Tract Infection, called "Group B Strep".   If anyone else gets a lot of UTIs, please please please tell me how your Doctors are dealing with it.   Mine are mostly giving up as they can't understand it.  They just keep giving me antibiotics and I know that's not good!

Your post was about 3 weeks ago so I hope you're feeling way better now!

I used to get UTIs a lot, not as much now, thank God!

Does your doctor keep trying different antibiotics and none work, or does it go away and return as soon as you're done with the medicine? If they know what the cause is, it seems that they should be able to find a solution.

I have a very difficult problem with that. I went to a urologist who was able to help me a lot! I had a drug resistant bacteria. Got a round of 8 shots of gentamyacin. This is a very strong antibiotic. Finally, I got rid of the issue. But also, I take 100 mg of Macrobid daily for prevention. They have me taking high doses of probiotics daily as well as Cystex plus (you can get it over the counter) daily for awhile for the pain and to calm my bladder. Most bacteria that causes UTIs is located in the bowel, so the probiotics is to try to decrease the number of bad bacteria in the bowel. I had this infection for 6 months. Took numerous rounds of antibiotics but could not get rid of it. I was so tired, my heart was skipping and the bladder pain was constant. I feel for you! Hope you get some relief soon!

you can also add in a cranberry supplement, it may help

I too have had so many that my dr just sent me home with a bottle full of antibioticsand said "take it when you need it, I feel confident you remember how". I did not even realize that I was having them so much more often than others were until that happened and I started asking the women in my family. Lately they have been better since I have been being treated for the MCTD. I also try to prevent them though by taking less sit down baths(hardly ever a bubble bath when I do), only use gentle soaps for that area, I haven't cut down on caffeine at all, but always urinating after sex no exceptions. It is really amazing to see all these things connecting with all of you in this group.

I stopped taking baths many years ago as I could connect them with the infections. I take Macrobid daily. Last Dr visit I had no infection but lots of blood in the urine. I went back 2 weeks later, did another urinalysis- no blood! I took no treatment at all. I have to say, when I finally bit the bullet and went off caffeine I felt so much better! Good luck to you.
