Another interesting day yesterday. I went to the hospital for an EP study. For those of you who don't know what this is, an EP study is an electrophysiological study of the heart. It maps the electrical pathways in the heart. They stick a bunch of wires an such into both groins and your neck and thread them through the arteries into your heart. They stick magnets all over your torso, front and back, as well as defibrillator pads and electrodes until no skin is left uncovered. Then they pace, shock and stimulate your heart for a couple of hours while you lay there, awake, unsedated and unable to move. Your heart beats fast, then slow, then races, feels like it stops, etc. All to find what is causing your heart to do what it does. After they are done, they peel off everything, with some skin. Then remove the wires and make you lay for another 2 hours so you don't bleed to death. Good and bad of it was that they could not pinpoint what was causing my heart to race so they didn't burn out anything. Treat with medications was the answer. If only the meds didn't take out my blood pressure. No blood pressure does not feel good! It took a half hour in the shower to get the dressings off, with some more skin. But, I feel better today. Thank God it is over!
