Effusion

So, anyone who read my journal knows I have been having some major hip pain. Excruciating pain in fact. Finally had an mri on friday and got the results yesterday. I have a small effusion in the hip joint. They are telling me that it is small, but it is horrible pain. Has anyone else had one of these before? Any advice?

if it is anything like bursitis, I know what that is like. It came out of nowhere and it was incredibly painful. I could barely walk.

I went to the chiropractor and he did an ultrasound treatment and in a couple of days I was better.

The pain I get now is nothing like that, it is more stiff and then it will work itself out, after I hobble around for awhile.

I hope you find some relief.

I had one on my left hip about a year ago. The dr gave me a steroid shot right into the painful area. My hip had been hurting off and on for almost a year and sometimes I couldn't walk, particularly going up stairs was nearly impossible. The shot was incredibly painful, but about three days later I was pain free and I'm able to be much more active now than I was during that year before the shot.

I hope they can treat yours without anything invasive. Good luck!

thanks guys. They aren't doing anything for it. They told me that if it doesn't get better in a couple weeks to go see an ortho. Just what I wanted to do, go see another doctor! It doesn't matter whether I rest or do my normal stuff, it still hurts.
