Hello everyone ... first, thank you all so much for your kind concerns, well wishes and advice. It really means a lot to me.
I received and e-mail from my mom this morning and she said that he is home from the hospital and is doing ok, although tired. She said that he said he may talk to me once he is home and settled. So, at this point I'll see what happens. I am figuring that he doesn't want to take a chance of getting upset or emotional right out of the hospital. At first I took it personal, like he just doesn't want to talk to me right away, while he is sick. But, I'm trying to be positive. I'm sure he is going through a lot right now. Having a heart attack at 44 cannot be an easy thing to experience.
There are a lot of things that happened over time that caused the rift. I am a family person and am the oldest in the family, so this has been extremely difficult for me to deal with. It was hard enough to lose my sister, but then a rift developed between my immediate family and my mom and brother over how we felt about my sister's then husband and how he acted at her wake, funeral, etc. and the fact that he was having an affair at the time.
Also, my brother had a business around the same time that we had gotten involved in and he owes us a lot of money over (it went under). This all happened around 4 years ago now. He had initially made some payments to us, but ceased to after that and once the rift happened, we didn't see any more money. In the meantime we see him and his wife spending money like crazy. We confront them about it through e-mail and he was nasty back. So we cleared stuff up and mailed it back to him and haven't heard anything from him. It has been probably a year now. I've only seen him 2 times in the last 4 years. It is sooo sad. I swore I would never let money come between me and my family, but it has.
Anyway, believe it or not that is the short version of what has happened. There is other stuff too.
I still love him, he is my brother. I hope and pray that he will be okay.

I am sure that he will call you, the money issue is a big thing to have between people, and he may also have guilt or embarrassment at still owing so much to you (although the fact they are spending big is pretty slack). I just hope that he makes the call and that you two can perhaps begin to repair and build upon your relationship.
ugh, family.... it never seems to be easy!
