Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) or Sharp's syndrome is a human autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the body. MCTD combines features of polymyositis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and systemic scleroderma and is thus considered an overlap syndrome. MCTD commonly causes joint pain/swelling, Raynaud phenomenon, muscle inflammation, and scarring of...
Yeah, i agree with you on the rheumy thing. I have always been real fortunate with that...someone is certainly looking out for me;) My first one, was 20 min. away and I got into see him in 2 days. Then, I had to have one in Canton, 3 minutes away, appt. in 2 days and the one here in WV is in the building I work in!! How's that for convenience? AND...she's wonderful!
Took the night off from working out last night. Had to spend a little time with hubby, he's not coming with me this weekend. Work will be good, shortened our schedule for an emergency procedure this afternoon...only 7 patients for the day now!! So , i'll get on the road much sooner than expected.
Feeling great...little tired, but eh, if that's the worst of it. Good luck today sausage...hope all goes well!
And to the rest of my new friends...have a wonderful, healthy, controlled pain day...pain free is what i'm praying for you all:)
Aside for some spoiled food and a washed out garden bed, we are OK.
I was able to drop to 10 mg. prednisone yesterday with no increase of pain or swelling today! Baby steps towards feeling better...and hopeful as always.
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!
Worknpr-- (or anyone who might be interested).....just wanted to share - you mentioned "The Power or Positive Thinking" in one of your posts -- I have been reading Love, Medicine & Miracles by Dr. Bernie Siegel and I love it - have found it so inspiring -- just wanted to mention it in case it's another title you might like to check out.
And to everyone - hope you are all having a good day and feeling good. And my thoughts and prayers to anyone having a tough time today. Thinking of everyone.....

MT-- we didn't exactly finish, but we reached a good stopping point. We have high-efficiency A/C and heating, as well as high-efficiency exhaust ventilation, in the bedroom, home office and guest room, the electrical is done and the walls are patched, but not painted. We decided to stop for the moment and just clean up all the plaster dust-- (sinus drainage issues, like you say!). The house is MUCH cooler, and with the exhaust fan system, I don't even have to run the AC until 12:30 or 1:00 PM, and I usually only cool one room at a time. Just got my electric bill, and the cost is only about $20 extra per month. Central would be at least a hundred. So we paid a LOT for this system, but it's going to save us lots of money.
Foundation work sounds difficult and expensive... what I recommend is, break the project into phases, if possible, and get estimates on each phase, watch the work very closely. That way, you don't make a huge commitment to one contractor who might screw up-- and they know you will fire them if their work is not good.
WRK-- my workouts are not quite up to yours, but they were a bit better later in the week. Yesterday's 20-minute swim was better, more like swimming through water and not mud, still not quite where it should be. Did 15 minutes of very light dumbbell work and crunches, and it does make me achy, but not achy enough to stop.
Dallas-- You sound better! Glad to hear it!
JM-- Okay, your post worried me a bit... sorry about the brain fog, and I know pain makes it worse. Take it slow, eat good food, hopefully it will lift tomorrow...
Snap-- Yeah, we had a wild lightning storm last night, I sat in the yard for about ten minutes, and it was almost like a light show, hope it didn't start fires. Careful with that Prednisone taper... glad it's working, I'm sure you'll stick with whatever tapering schedule the doc gave ya...
And to all of you folks who have to drive a long way to see the Rheumo, that must be really rough. I have days when I do not like to drive very far or in much traffic... in L.A., we drive all the time, of course, but everything is relatively close...
A better today, still on the upswing, best to all...
