I don't share as much on facebook either. I am more open here because it is a little more removed from daily life and everyone here is pretty much in the same boat and understands the vents better.

Facebook is a little too close to home......if that makes any sense?

It's apples and oranges, really, but in general, Facebook is for very public issues, or silly ideas, keeping in touch with friends I can't reach any other way, and having friends from different parts of my life connect about common interests. In general, I am more open here-- I am not afraid to talk about politics on FB, but I do avoid it. I avoid that here, but not quite as much, particularly in reference to health care. I would never discuss the meds that I use in any context on FB.

I never mix the two.

FB is very controlled for me. Not just family and friends, that i don't share my disease process with anyway, but my boss, friends of friends I don't know, husbands friends, my late mothers Aunt Ruby, etc. etc. etc.

I love it here too and am very grateful for all of you. I started on the Lupus board and was attacked and ridiculed by some. Who needs that?

Teisha, all that nonsense that was going on with the lupus board is over, the two that were doing most of the fighting we suspended for two weeks each and e erythingnis quiet again.

Call me a nut....but I think I am one of the only people I know who is "anti-facebook". I share with the people I choose and my life and problems are not an open book. YEP I AM A NUT! If I get a choice though I want to be a cashew cause I like them! :) LOL

Lela, I'm a hazelnut. I don't do facebook either. Heck I can hardly keep up here.

I love facebook mainly cause my son is overseas ,they put pictures of their adventures up.and I keep up with cousins that I dont always see. my hubbys cousin and family were here from England when I got really sick and wasnt diagnosed yet ,her hubby has horrible arthritis and he is so upbeat and exercises, he really helped me to start fighting we can talk on Facebook every week, she recently had my son and his family at her house for a few days ,she put up pictures of the dinner and birthday cake she did for the twins 4th birthday .we can Skype too which is amazing

I would have to agree about Facebook. While I use it to access my account here because it's convenient I don't share a lot about my health issues. (Not that most of them would understand anyways; one reason I was so glad to find this group.)

I use Facebook mainly as a way to stay in contact with my friends and family back home and to share photos with them. I moved to Colorado from South Florida where I spent nearly my entire life so it's a great way for me to stay connected with everyone.

Granted a lot of those people know of my condition however we talk about those things privately on the telephone usually or Skype. I do have clients that "friend" me on Facebook too so I feel restricted in what I can/can't post there as well.
