Need some hope

My mouth hurts so badly I want to cry, but I know that won't help. The doctor at the walkin clinic I went to last week says it is a virus due to the meds that suppress my immune system. I have my doubts because mouth issues precede the drugs. At any rate I am on an antiviral which seems to do nothing and magic mouthwash which takes the pain away for about a minute. It seems my life consists of one symptom after another and the process has stolen my will. Really having a pity party. This is the one place I can come where I don't have to put on a positive front when I am feeling defeated and hopeless.

Oh man, I do feel for you. Not only that, I relate. It IS one symptom after another and it gets tiring and more than frustrating. I get it. I wish I could do something for you as much as you can do something for me. But in truth,, reading your honesty does help. Keep writing....it's the best thing we got right now.

It's all right, you're in the right place.

Take it slow. Get some rest, review the symptoms one by one, when they started, if they got worse after you started on the drugs.

Which meds are you on and when did you start? If you've been into them more than 90 days, might be worth a re-think. Vent here, rest, consult with doctor, rinse, repeat as needed.

I have never had mouth symptoms beyond bad cavities, and only a few lesions in my nose, they were not painful. Sending positive thoughts your way.

If you are on methotrexate you need to be on folic acid too or increase it if you are already on it. Call your rheumy... mouth sores are part of MCTD and the rheumy should be addressing it. Until then stay away from acidic foods and take ibuprofen o help with the pain. ( if it doesn't interact with the meds your on). Hope it's better soon.

So sorry I Am praying for you. It is so very hard. Times I'm fine but then ugggg I get do frustrated especially when family doesn't understand. Keep strong and we will mush through this.

Watch out for your toothpaste and mouthwash. I got some that was supposed to whiten my teeth and the mouth sores were awful! The doctor could not figure it out, but I did myself. Treat your mouth kindly. Oh, that magic mouth wash is not worth crap!
Also, Ambusol on the lesions is a short term help. And do not eat foods that burn, like tomatoes or salty stuff.

I don't know if this will help you , but i use baking soda mixed with water. I tend to get low level yeast infections in my mouth when I am on immunosuppressants
