Hey ladies!! We are getting so close to our start date for IVF. I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone has any tips to share. Any tips about medication administration? Diet/exercise routine? Things maybe you wish you would have known or done differently? Tips for egg retrieval day and transfer day? Any and all advice welcome! Thanks in advance!
@Prayerfullywaiting- Last year I did one fresh cycle and 1 FET . I also tried acupuncture during the FEt . I took a break and during that time I did Pgs , ERA( endometrial receptivity test) since I had good quality eggs. Finally decided to go for another FET this Feb and boom! I still did acupuncture , fertility yoga and worked through mind-body meditation s with a counselor which was very helpful for me! Keep us posted !
@Natalie_Rose: Oh interesting, and seemingly logical that PSG would lead to only one embryo transfer. Given the "success" of using PSG (and avoiding my twin dilemma), I'll really need to think about sucking-up the added cost. My husband was sold on it from the initial consultation, so he won't be a hard sell ;)
@PrayerfullyWaiting: I am sending positive thoughts your way! Sounds like my clinic is similar, as they suggested their clients choose fresh transfer given time and money constraints, but they prefer FET. Also, for what it's worth: I read that some doctors prefer only transferring one embryo because theoretically it would be more successful - you're body concentrates all of its energy on the one embryo, as opposed to numerous which could diminish getting the job done on one.
In terms of my timing, I am "eagerly" waiting for my period at the end of March. In a hypothetical discussion with my clinic, birth control and ultrasounds the 1-2 weeks of April, followed by hormones, and then retrieval by the start of May. FET would follow at the end of June. I thought this would all unfold in February, but alas, my thyroid was a tad high (TAD!), and I've been "patiently" taking a very low dose of thyroid medicine for the past two months.
@hopeful15--I was started on very LOW dose of synthroid over a year ago.. when my thyroid was a tad out of wack. I really hope I don't have to take it forever. But worth it if it helps us to conceive.
I just received the last of my medication today... I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I organized it to the best of my ability and wrote down questions I have for my doctor when I do my baseline US/Lab apt. on Thursday. We made the final decision to pursue IVF in October and had a couple of setbacks so it feels surreal that it's finally here...

Remind me ladies if you've now started?!
