Marijuana Addiction & Recovery Support Group
This community is dedicated to those looking to overcome their addiction to marijuana, a drug produced from parts of the cannabis plant. Join the group to find support among people who are also looking to cease their habit of smoking marijuana, share your experience, and get advice. It's not easy to kick the habit, but together we can.
Good for you for going to NA, I think their program has a lot to offer, and I think a program or "plan" is essential for beating addiction. When I first quit over two years ago I spent a lot of time in their chat room and attended online meetings too.
Don't feel alone - gachillions of people get tricked into addictions, and you're now working your way out. How are you doing?
I feel horrible. I want to quit sooo bad but, the fears of the what ifs are keeping me down. Today is my first day of quitting, mainly cause we're out and that makes me happy for once. Usually I would panic but...
Also, I need to tell family that I'm quitting as of today. Maybe then it will get easier (so to speak). Maybe they won't smoke around me or they'll quit too. Its very unlikely they will though.
I'm going to go to meetings as often as I can. I want to get their reference book and all other related materials. Right now I've been reading AA's Big Book and the 12 & 12. I know they are simuliar so its helping with my other addictions also. I have a friend in recovery that is taking me to a meeting tonight. Every little bit helps I know.
I'm so sorry you felt so horrible. But I really admire you for wanting to stop an addiction, and if you quit drinking 10 years ago, you obviously have some good skills. I meant to say MA not NA in my last post. Where I live there are no meetings, so I was online a lot and it was such a help.
I remember too, the struggle to tell people I was quitting. That was a big step, it made my inside decision "real" and also made a possible relapse harder.I don't think I could have done it if I lived with smokers.
How are you doing? Sending strength and peace!
How are you doing? How did you quit? How are you holding up now?
Since then (2 and a half years ago) I have not relapsed. I come here everyday, I read spiritual books, I stay away from certain people and places. It may sound fakey-dramatic, but my life IS a joy. I get things done, I accomplish goals, I'm beginning to trust myself, my skin looks better, I have more energy.
It's crazy now to think about - before I could not have imagined life without pot, and now it breaks my heart to think what I did to myself.
You can do this, lots of people do. Have you checked out the MA online site and chat room? The DS forum doesn't have a lot going on these days.
