Marijuana Addiction & Recovery Support Group
This community is dedicated to those looking to overcome their addiction to marijuana, a drug produced from parts of the cannabis plant. Join the group to find support among people who are also looking to cease their habit of smoking marijuana, share your experience, and get advice. It's not easy to kick the habit, but together we can.
I'm not a 12-stepper myself, although I've gone to lots of NA & AA meetings....Unfortunately, and almost unbelievably, there were NO MA meetings in my area when I needed them most. It would have been SO good to be able to share experiences/feelings with other potheads.
Some AA people are total ASSHOLES when you mention weed. Usually better to just clam up in these cases .Depends on the group. I never really felt at home in NA either...I'm not condemning the 12-steps. I got a lot out of them, I just never found a real 'home'.
I know there are on-line MA meetings, although I can't see them being a real substitute for being 'face-to-face' with fellow potheads.
There's always US to lean on if you're feeling weak.
Sorry for rambling....
There is a link to start a new MA meeting and a list of meetings, which change all the time.

I drive about 30 miles to get to my local MA meeting. Some people think I'm crazy. That is in addition to going to AA locally.
Well the meetings are a part of recovery. I'd suggest downloading the MA book which I think you may already have, and maybe look for an online sponsor. There is a great tool to use if you want to join an online yahoo group for marijuana addiction, it's called the pipeline. You can receive emails from other marijuana addicts. I think this is the right link.
Keep up the good work, seek and you shall find I hope.
Yeah, it can be all around us, and what we can do is get a spiritual awakening as the result of the 12 steps and our defense comes from a higher power.

When I first quit I was on the MA site everyday - hanging out in the chat room and going to online meetings. It wasn't the same as face-to-face, but it was invaluable and when you really want to quit, every bit of help is a blessing. Maybe you could try that out while you wait for a land meeting to happen?
Best of luck, let us know how you are doing,
Lucy
