Good for you for wanting to quit, and you're right to make "accountability" part of your plan. This site was a big help to me when I quit smoking over two years ago (life is so much better), checking in here daily was a real affirmation and reminder about my new direction.
Let us know how you're doing!
Feeling positive though, just admitting the fact that i had a problem and taking active steps to deal with it has already lifted a huge weight off my shoulders, i just wish i'd done it sooner before i failed my exams this semester, but its too late to worry about it now, i have to move on and make a fresh start. Whats done is done.
My plan is to every day post a new reason why its good to stop getting high. My reason of the day is a basic one: "It is easier to get out of bed in the mornings!"
I'm also going to give myself 2 or 3 small but productive goals each day so I am at least getting something done each day which is an improvement on doing nothing. It will also help to deal with boredom and get my mind off thoughts of buying more drugs. Part of the reason i was doing them in the first place was so i didn't have to take responsibility for being lazy. So my goals of the day are:
-Completely clean my room, make my bed and do my laundry.
-Get some exercise and work out for 20 minutes.
-Go shopping for some healthy food and start my new healthy lifestyle.
Will see you again tomorrow!

I'm on day 2, yesterday went well and i achieve my goals. I can't even believe the difference i'm feeling already. Although i've had sleep problems both nights, i've still found it easier to get out of bad. It also feels great to go and get ready and experience a bit of the world rather than just smoking a few bowls and lying in bed for hours. Yesterday i did have a lot of thoughts all day about smoking when i got annoyed at one of my housemates but i simply told myself no. Everything seems better today i think i was just tired and irritable.
My reason for quitting of the day: "I'm more motivated to get things done!"
My goals for the day:
-Eat 5 pieces of fruit
-Clean my kitchen (nobody cleans in my house lol)
-Sign up and start an online weight loss program.
Catch you tommorow, best wishes to all!
to Courtss: wow your story sounds very similar to mine, with mine being a little worse but it is really nice to hear that there is someone else like me out there and that person was able to quit.
I started smoking pot when i was in highschool (2002) and by the time i graduated i was smoking daily and have continued to smoke daily. I have always been a shy person but now i have developed anxiety to go along with the shyness and i have use pot to help with my anxiety and making it so that i don't have to deal with my problems. I am not happy with the way i am now and i think that pot has contributed to my anxiety. it kinda seams like a double edged sword though because i feel like i need pot to cope with my anxiety but i also think that the pot has caused my anxiety, not just medically but also because over the years i have neglected doing things so that i can stay home and get high but now i am nervous to do things. I kinda feel like i am stuck in a circle and i do not know how to get out. I thought a lot about quiting today but then i got bored and smoked. I do think that i am addicted, im don't know if i am cemically addicted but i know that because i have been using it daily for about half my life it's just something i do, lol if that makes sence.
I really need to quit, but have doubts if i can and don't even know how to start.
Although i've only just started, i can already see the positives, when you smoke all the time it completely clouds your judgement and makes you think that smoking is the best way to deal with things. Even though I would still really like to smoke right now, after just 2 days i can think much more clearly and can see that there are better alternatives to getting high.
I started the process by making the decision in my head, then posting on here and having 1 final good bye smoke where i got really high and did something i really enjoyed. The fact that i thought about it as my last smoke before i did it has made it a lot easier to turn my back on it now. I also made sure i had nothing to smoke in my house and got all my paraphernalia out of sight the next morning so I wouldn't be tempted.
If you decide to quit now, then maybe we can go through this together, its always great to know you are not alone when you are going through a difficult process.
Sounds like your anxiety is a separate but related issue. My anxiety was getting really bad which is one of the reasons i wanted to stop. I had a couple of borderline panic attacks after smoking and my friend had a full on panic attack which he described as the worst day of his life. My theory behind the anxiety is that because i was never getting anything done it was causing problems with my life which was making me very anxious and depressed, which I was forgetting by getting high, which was leading to worse problems which was making me even more anxious. It's a vicious cycle and unfortunately its really hard to deal with the underlying problems causing anxiety while you are high.
Anyway best of luck, i will continue to report my progress on here, let us know if you decide the make the change!
Thoughts of smoking keep popping into my head since last night but i am managing to put them to the back of my mind so far, i just have to keep reminding myself how nice it is to be fully in control of my mind!
My reason for quitting of the day: "I'm saving a lot of money!"
My tasks for the day:
-Go for a long walk
-Vacuum my house
-Start looking for a voluntary job
See you tomorrow!
Which brings me to my reason of the day: "I wont have a horrible cough all the time!"
My goals for the day:
-Learn a new healthy recipe
-Wash my bedding
-Start a book
Keep on posting please, it's great to have you in the forum!
Today i day 10 for me. I did have some difficulty tossing and turning thru the night but since my brain isnt all foggy anymore I still was able to jump right up withenergy when my alarm rang for work. When I was a smoker I would have to hit the snooze button 3 times!
I dont have to blow my nose every morning anymore! I can breathe better and am happier. This morning I had one cough and it was black junk I got rid of that had a slight green tone to it
