Feeling Judged is making quitting harder
JayPP
So i posted a while back when i started trying to quit smoking synthetic weed.
Since then i've been on a bumpy ride, but managed to cut down significantly. At the peak of my smoking i was on 2-3 bags a day now i've cut down to less than 2 bags a week.
But recently i've encountered a strange problem.
I moved to a new town/place with some some flatmates i met offline.
I intended on subtly quitting completely in the first few weeks after i moved, but the guys i've moved in with are very smart, bright, non-smokers who are at home at the times when i most like to smoke.
There was no fooling them and they already mentioned it to me, but despite explaining that i really only smoke once a week now to help me quit i feel like they are being extremely judgmental and i've actually started smoking more often now, every time they go out, just to relax myself a little about it. It's not good smoking ever, they are not cool with me blowing out the window so i have to go outside where i am concerned about a neighbors kid seeing me.
I know the reasons they are being judgmental because i used to be the same way myself:
1. They are very straight-laced and naive about the effects of any drugs, one doesn't even drink caffeine other than the occasional soft-drink and seems to think its a gateway drug...
2. They don't seem to realise that because its not chemically addictive I can stop myself any time i want, it just makes me miserable and bored and it's easier for me to ease off gradually. Thus i get the impression they think im some crazy stoner who is always stoned even when im around them (which I try never to be stoned around other people).
However, I don't want to be known as the stupid stoner who they put up with living with because i'm reliable on rent.
I've tried engaging in conversations with them about things they like, even tried baking them brownies to make up for the fact I didn't let them know i have the occasional smoke. However, I still feel judged and I even feel like 1 of them is avoiding me. I'm not sure how to deal with it because i don't want to approach them directly to talk about it yet in case they freak out, i've only been here 2 weeks and I don't want to risk being kicked out. They are also completely different ages (the ones who i feel are judging me since my 3rd flatmate seems a lot more understanding of the situation) ages 20 and 41 so i'm not sure talking to them together would be effective.
This is where I need some advice/guidance:
Firstly, I want your opinions. Is this just me being paranoid and this is just normal behavior for new flatmates who don't know me yet or do you think I might be right, considering the reasons i gave and the fact these guys are straight laced non-smokers.
Secondly, i need some advice on how to stop feeling judged and upset/stressed out all the time (whether they really are judging me or not). I didn't used to, even when i smoked more, because my flatmates knew about it and were cool with it. In addition to making me more stressed and unrelaxed it's also making me think about smoking a lot more, which is making it harder to quit. I need some techniques for getting it off my mind. I know that it is partially because i feel guilty for trying to lie about it.
Do you think it might be wise to just sit down and explain to them that i don't do any other drugs or smoke cigarettes and i would never bring any illegal drugs into their house?
Thanks in advance, maybe i just need some reassurance that this isn't a unique situation. I really just need some support with this one, i'm even considering moving out which would be a drastic and potentially costly move (since I actually really like these flatmates as well as the monetary loss), but the combined feeling of being mistaken as a horrendous druggie and guilt about having to "secretly smoke" are getting overwhelmingly stressful.

I think it's a blessing in disguise that you are in this situation. Fake weed will KILL you. It killed my best friend. And I kept on smoking it.
Please consider quitting. More in synthetic weed topic.
Good luck and God Bless.
