Hello All, So my question for the week is surrounding my husbands testostrone levels. So as I said last week, my DH was told that he has ZERO sperm, so the next step before the urologist was blood work. My DH's FSH levels were in the norm and same with his LH levels... SOOOOO his testostrone was 350, which it should be between 245-1080 which per/kaiser is in the normal...now its low compared to 1080, but could that be the reason for the no sperm? WHat were other DH's levels if any of you know?

I was told that I had a low sperm count. They did the blood work and found that my FSH levels were too high. This means that my pituatary(sorry if I spelled it wrong) was working in overdrive, trying to make sperm. My testosterone levels were also high, due to the high FSH levels. The reason that my FSH levels are so high is because my testes were damaged when I was younger. I had a viral infection (the shingles) when I was young, and that damaged my testes. They do not work. The urologist said that there was nothing they could do to lower my FSH levels, and they said that they are high because my body is trying to make my testes work. Before the blood tests came back, the urologist said that there could be a problem with the tube that connects from your testes to the urinary track. He said it could be blocked, and they might be able to go in and repair it, if it turned out to be the problem. Well, no need to check on that for me, but that might be a problem with your DH. I hope that I got all that right because it was about 8 or 9 months ago. Sorry if I got some of the information wrong about the medical stuff.

My dh didnt have a count of zero, but it was only between one and two thousand each time. The only thing in question was that his hormone levels were "slightly" low. His urologist put him on clomid and it worked for a short time, his count went to 264 million. We did not do an IUI during that time and I think that if we had it may have resulted in a pregnancy or at least had a better chance than just trying the old fashioned way. The side effects were horrible for him also. Did the doctor discuss if he thought there could be a blockage? My husband did make some life style changes that could have resulted in our pregnancy such as looser fitting clothes, less drinking and cigarettes and he took fertili blend that I purchased online. He also stopped putting his cell phones in his pants pockets.

I can't remember my husband's testosterone level but it was considerably low. They presume this is what is causing his low count, etc. He was prescibed clomid and it helped quite a bit (Count when from 15 mil to 59 mil, motility whent from 30% to 40% and morphology was improved). So this could be a cause...my DH's FSH were normal too. It would also be a tubal problem. Good luck. I know people who have gotten pregnant with 0 counts on IFV. Best wishes.
