I was curious if anyone is taking aspirin on a regular basis as recommended by their doctor. I know the doctor on my genetic counseling team had mentioned it (one of the few things I recall from the day I found out I had Lynch Syndrome), and it is also mentioned on the video on Lynch Syndrome International. Are any of you taking aspirin regularly, and if so what are you taking? I am thinking of starting this, and I am curious about others experience and thoughts on this matter. I took Sulindac (it's a fancy aspirin) for approximately 10 years. My lynch progressed into over 40 colon polyps, including one with high grade dysplasia before I decided to have my colon removed. I asked a doctor once if they thought the Sulindac was working and the answer was, possibly. My father & sister both developed full blown cancer in their 30's and I made it to 43 without getting a tumor. So, maybe it "slowed" it down? I would say if the aspirin doesn't give you any side effects, then go ahead and take it. That is just my personal opinion.

Thank you for your reply. It gives me a direction to discuss with my team, and since you gave a name of a type of aspirin, I may mention it to see if that is the direction I should go. I do not remember ever taking regular aspirin, so I will have to see if it effects me in any negative way. Thank you again!

My GI doctor who is very good (I think he's Torch100's doctor too) says an aspirin a day can help. Cox -2 inhibitors (aspirin is one, but there are others) have a preventative effect. Here's one short abstract - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15252926
