I suffered for several years with this same issue!!! My stomach almost touched the floor when I sat and fluid dripped horribly from the fibrous tissue. It was so bad I had to have a towel on the floor to catch it and my clothes stayed wet. They tried dressing it with abdominal pads but there was too much area. I got infections constantly. It hung a bit lower to the right and rested on my right leg eventually causing infections there as well. I could not wear panties at all and pants were very awkward too. I had surgery to remove it in 2010. It gave me my life back. I now have lyphedema in both legs., as well as my lower abdomen. The genital area iis hard to manage as well. I can sort of keep mine under control by wearing a regular women's compression panty (really just a girdle) over my panties. I felt like such a freak! I completely understand what you are going through. Ironically I was not diagnosed with lymphedema for several more years. I was hospitalized due to the infections and was referred to a plastic surgeon to remove my belly. They didn't know it was lymphedema. They were just trying to help me walk again. It was very difficult to walk because my belly kind of rode on my right leg. Good luck to you! I hope you can find a doctor to help you!!! The surgery was very intense and difficult recovery, however it was nothing compared to the hell I'd been living in.

I just joined today. I have the same problem with the added problem of a 3 inch deep bleeding navel. I am now convinced that the lymphoedema has caused the bleeding navel. My panicullus hangs to my knees and my feet and calves have just recently become swollen. I am in the first stage of reading about ways of managing this condition but am just so upset about everything. I am glad to have found this group. Oh and I have no health insurance and live on Social Security.

Hi Rabeeon hi redcowqueen. I saw a plastic surgeon yesterday and he is saying no to removing the lymphedema surgically until and unless I lose weight. I don't know how that is going to happen. The bariatric surgery has said bariatric surgery will not improve the lymphedema situation. I am working with a physical therapist on compression. I went on disability because I cannot get around well enough to go to work. Ugh. At least I have some people who recognize the problem and are thinking about solutions. I am so glad both of you replied. Yay I am not alone. Neither are you.
Tomorrow I am going to the fabric store to see what I can find to aid in the compression. I just got some nice yoga pants/leggings from women within and they are very comfortable. They also hide my belly from view when I am out in public. I am trying to be hopeful.
