Test results - ok or very cautious?

Hi! I am a member of a couple other boards because I have health issues. One of my other board sisters recently wrote that she has Lymes disease, so when I saw three small bullseye rashes on my legs, I jumped!

Straight to get tested. The tests came back today: positive in only one band (not all 5). He said I should get tested again soon...but I don't understand the results. Did any of you have this? Do I need to push to get treated soon?

It would be a little unusual to have three bulls-eyes----- but as everything with Lyme, unusual is sometimes the norm.

Your test results will depend on which lab your doctor used. Most doctors will use a lab that doesn't use a lab that's specific for Lyme and tick borne diseases. (Igenex is one)

And sometimes the antibodies don't show up for a while----- but all tests (even from Igenex) are not perfect.

You should go to http://www.ilads.org and start reading! Lyme is NOT a simple disease and isn't easily explained or treated. But you've done a good thing getting in touch with a Lyme disease forum, even though this one is not too active.

Are you currently getting any treatment?

Based on my symptoms/presentation/etc. lyme doctor guesses I've had Lymes for about 2+ years... and when I got tested the results were not strong (2 bands maybe).

Of course I'm not a doctor, but I think it would be best to treat it aggressively now, rather than wait-- as cave said, everything unusual is the norm, and your test results may never show a strong positive if it is Lymes.
