Lyme Disease Support Group
Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. It is now one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the U.S. Lyme disease is caused by infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is primarily transmitted to humans as well as dogs, horses and other domesticated animals by the bite of infected ticks.

Are you currently on antibiotics to help with Lyme disease?
I encourage you to read Dr. Robt. Bransfield's articles about Lyme and mental 'disorders'
I appreciate your sharing. I struggle with many similar issues and found out this past fall that I have Lyme. I definitely relate to what you're struggling with. I used to think that I had this seriously bad temper, and wondered if I was "losing it". After doing some research, I found that this Lyme bug can burrow itself in all areas of the body, including the central nervous system. I've struggled with anger, rage at times, and just plain ol frustration with even the smallest things in life. While I'm not condoning how I've responded or reacted in certain cases, it makes much more sense knowing that I've got Lyme.
I'm learning how to deal with the issues of life a little more each day. While I'm still on heavy anti-biotics, I feel that I am heading in the right direction. I used to be on 2 antidepressants and have come off of those with in the past year. I did so under the supervision of a doctor. What most dr's don't know, is that Lyme is the Great Imitator, because it mimics so many other illnesses and diseases.
I hope this has helped a bit. Stay strong and fight the good fight!
Thank you cave76...I will definitely read the link you sent me. I have been on Antibiotics since Dec. 27th, but it was making me feel so ill that I had to stop for a few days, resume half the dose for a while, but now I am back to full dose and tolerating it MUCH better. I have been diagnosed with BiPolar, OCD, and social phobia so it sounds like I really need to take a look at that article. Thank you again!
BeFreeoflyme--thank you for sharing your experience. It makes me feel a little better to know it's not only me. I have pretty much been off of medications for 2 years. I occasionally try new meds to try to "even" me out, but they always fail and make me feel worse. My most recent try, trileptal, made my face swell. I am really struggling. I have had the same therapist for about 8 years so there is not much more she can offer me. Still she is probably the only support I have. I hope things continue to be better for you. Thank you again!
