Lyme Disease Support Group
Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. It is now one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the U.S. Lyme disease is caused by infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is primarily transmitted to humans as well as dogs, horses and other domesticated animals by the bite of infected ticks.
Well I went to my LLMD yesterday and now since I have not had any improvement with treatment for 3 years with him we are getting more agressive because apparently there is bio-film that has to be broke thru. Just when I start to understand things I am threw for another loop. I know that this means most likely they have become resistant to the abx. and we have to get thru their barrier.
Thing is we got on the subject of the HEALTH CARE BILL and us with LYMES> He stated that if they get their way we will be totally screwed. Worse than we are now. Then we got on the subject of treatment and Insurance companies not paying for visits and treatments and going so far as to take them to Court. To hear that I could be healed "most" lilkely in 4 months if he was allowed to use the Protocol of 2 different IV DRUGS combined that he used until the CDC and Health Dept . or whom ever goes after them went after him and threatened to take his practice and shut him down if he didn't stop using it.
I was sadened. We ALL could be living improved lives if these people who do not know anything would just take the time to look at the reaesrch and the lives of us who are suffering. Alot of us have lost everything and it is a battle daily not only to live but to afford treatment.Then to hear that he was healing patients in 4 months until he was forced to stop. I would do anything to have even 1/3 of my life back. I have been in treatment now for 8 years. 4 on abx, then a 1 year break and now I am getting ready to go on my 4th year again.
All I can do is pray that some how we can open people eyes up so People , CHILDREN especailly will stop suffering. The numbers are staggering if you get the "REAL" statistics on how many people in the U.S. are infected and terribly misdiagnosed. Which I am sure most of us know that feeling. It took me 5 years to believe it was Lymes. Most Patients see's between 10 -50 doctors before they find a LLMD who can treat them right. I am on my 3rd and I have to drive 2 hours away.
To think they believe that 30 days of "ANY" abx is enough treatment weather you have had Lyme for 1 month or 10 years.Please like my Doctor said make the right choices on NOVEMBER 2, 2010 and get out and vote for thosde who will help us continue to recieve help. I'm interested in what the 2 meds were he was talking about and what symptoms you have?
I have to say that I am better than I was if that is possible. At least i can get off the couch for awhile now and do things with my family. I have just had it for so long and it has gotten into my nervous system and every muscle. He did say that the IV works so much better because it is able to get into the tissues where as the oral meds can't that much. Hopefully one day things will change for all of us. We have to continue with HOPE ! Without it we have nothing.
