Lyme Disease Support Group
Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. It is now one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the U.S. Lyme disease is caused by infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is primarily transmitted to humans as well as dogs, horses and other domesticated animals by the bite of infected ticks.
It does sound a bit like a Herx but sometimes side effects feel the same.
As always be on the look-out for signs of a REAL anaphylactic shock. It doesn't sound as if you're going into anaphylactic shock but I'm not a doctor, just someone who would rather err on the side of too cautious than not cautious enough.
Let me repeat----- it doesn't sound as if you're in anaphylactic shock.
I don't mean to scare you but all of us should know this:
"Anaphylaxis may begin with severe itching of the eyes or face and, within minutes, progress to more serious symptoms. These symptoms include swallowing and breathing difficulties, abdominal pain, cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, hives, and angioedema (swelling similar to hives, but the swelling is beneath the skin instead of on the surface).
If you have symptoms of anaphylaxis, seek emergency medical attention immediately. The condition can quickly result in an increased heart rate, sudden weakness, a drop in blood pressure, shock, and ultimately unconsciousness and death."
I know what you mean. The symptoms the antibiotics cause can be concerning. I have never had negative effects from taking antibiotics in the past, they just made me well. So, now, since contracting LD, I experience an increase of symptoms and an all around feeling crummy after taking the abx. I keep a journal from day to day of all my symptoms to show my doctor at my next visit. Then I ask "does this make sense"? And the doctor will tell me if my response to the abx is as expected. So, far my doctors reply to my adverse increased symptoms after taking abx, is "it's the classic reaction". So, a journal really helps to track not only your symptoms, but also you will be able to see any improvements, which is encouraging.

I just started my antibiotic about a week ago and I feel even more exhausted and have been having pain in my joints and neck worse than normal. It really don't make sense though does it?
I am part of a club on facebook where the people have given me some awesome support. Are you on facebook? I could give you the name of the group.
The majority of them said that you need to detox. Nearly every one agreed that lemon water is a good way to go. One suggested squeezing fresh lemons and then making the juice into ice cubes and putting it in fresh water (and drinking it.) Another big one was a hot bath in epsom salts. Soak 15-20 mins. per bath.
Someone sent me this site as well...

I hope you are feeling better!
One thing that took a long time for me to truly accept was that changing my diet was a key part of being "cured" I have not eaten gluten for 3 years and eat no sweets at all. If you can severely limit sugar and flour in your diet inflammation and brain fogginess will be helped immensely.
