Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. It is now one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the U.S. Lyme disease is caused by infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is primarily transmitted to humans as well as dogs, horses and other domesticated animals by the bite of infected ticks.
I was told I had lymes, but I have gotten to the point where I don't believe it anymore. In 2007 my very first symptom was blurry vision and double vision. In 2008 I found a tick on my head, in my hair. I couldn't see in that area so I have no clue if I ever had the rash. I know it didn't itch. About 2 months later I had 2-3 days of a mild fever. Never thought much about it. Also I was excersing everyday at that point. I had a bad tear in the cartilage in the left knee. I had no insurance so it had to sit like that for a year. When I finally had surgery it re tore not long after, also the right tore. I had three surgeries and now have arthritis because of all that. Not long after that I lost feeling in my feet and very bad swelling which has never gone away. I began to lose the ability to walk, it was like my legs couldn't support me. I began to have really old muscle cramps at night, very painful. Trouble sleeping. I got refered to a lymes doc. She did a lyme test but that was negative. She ran the western blot test and it show a few non spescefic lymes factors. She said I had a infection and she wanted to treat for lyme. I was told I would get worce before I got better. After a year of antiboitcs nothing had changed I never got worce, and I never felt any better. Aside from getting really bad gred I never noticed any change. For the last year and a half I have been trying to get a follow up with neuro and ruhmtology and neurology but I haven't be able to get a referral they'd just say they don't treat lymes. I finally got a family doc to refer me and I am filling seeing them. Now things have gotten worce swelling in the hands, loss of feeling, my quads have gone numb and loss of feeling. I am dragging my feet I walk with a walker or I fall. My facial muscles have lost control, my back of my toung is numb, I stuffer and slur my speech, my chest is tight, I can't pee or have a bm. I am being tested for ms, but my family doc also things it could be a auto immune reaction from a co infection. Thou I have never had any problems with fevers, or any symptoms that go along with that. I don't know if this is lymes, a autoimmune reacation from a post lymes infection. It's been over a year since I was on antiboitcs. If the neuro doesn't think it's ms I will probably have to go back to the lymes doc. It's just hard to believe this really is lymes. I had a bad lung infection at the same time I had the western blot test

I found the western blot the only test that came back positive for anything was the cd8+ was high. All the lymes test were normal. Not to mention no fevers of any kind. My thinking is the cd8+ was a false positive, that is what the lab in cally thought. I will be very curious what the neuro thinks.
