HI Claire, I am so sorry you are going through this. When the Rx's are swapped around we are once again sent through new herxing cycles as it targets a different for of the disease.

That being said, this class of Rx is not tolerable for everyone. I had to be pulled off them. Here is a link to Cipro info:

I had the mood swings and felt tlike I was going crazy...once I stopped it did slowly improve. It is good you are seeing your Dr tomorrow, make sure to tell him what this med is doing to you OK?

Until then, let your needs be known to your family. That you need quiet, rest and be kind to yourself!

I'm with Alana.... let your doctor know what is going on just in case you are not tolerating the rx.

BUT it could be that the schetes are the ones not tolerating it so well and that you are indeed herxing... kicking butt. It sounds like it to me the way your symptoms read, but you really need to tell your LLMD as I'm sure you can't wait to do!

Thank you both for your help. I did read up on Cipro and was shocked (that will teach me for blindly taking rx's). I'm sure it was an adverse reaction and will never take anything in that class again. It was a different kind of feeling than Lyme depression, I thought I was going crazy.
My doc today switched a bunch of stuff so now will take Amox, Plaquenil, Zithromax and Mepron.

Claried4, I'm so sorry for all that you're going through. It sounds like you have a good LLMD, and I'm glad he's listening to your concerns.

Are you being treated for co-infections? Some of your symptoms- such as sweats, burning feet, and mood swings could be due to co's, from what I've read.

I probably have babesia and bartonella, had more bloodwork done today.
I do like my lyme doc and I think he knows what he's doing....just that Cipro stuff online is scary. There's a whole community of 'cipro victims' with non-specific chronic health/psych problems and the medical community doubts it's existence....sound familiar!?

I feel for you. I too am experiencing bouts of anger. Not really bad but I have a short fuse. I think it is one of the symptoms coming out from the meds I am on. I know it is really bad when we have no control over things that happen. Even though my whole family has it they still do not understand because I have it the worst.
I agree that if it is to bothersome talk it over with your doctor. Those little buggers can bring out some nasty symptoms when htey die. I still amazed at what a tick bit can do!! I hope that you start to fell better soon. Remeber that when we herx we can have all kinds of symptoms come out of the woodworks. Hang in there :)
