It is now one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the U.S. Lyme disease is caused by infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is primarily transmitted to humans as well as dogs, horses and other domesticated animals by the bite of infected ticks.

Tell us about your personal experience with Amoxicillin as a treatment: Has it worked? Have you had any issues? Any recommendations or tips?

This was the second med I was put on for my Lyme Disease. I was on it for about 4 weeks. It didn\'t seem to work so well on me, plus I had too many side effects. I had bad vertigo ( very dizzy), stomach cramping, Yeast everywhere. Still getting to many Lyme symptoms.

I\'m not sure how well this worked. I think it was working b/c I had a month-long HERX on it and then a few wonderful symptom free days. But the HERXing lasted too long and was too severe. I had a really bad side effect, though. I got extreemely agitated. Couldn\'t sleep, and was crawling out of my skin.

I\'m doing much better on another antibiotic now.

Amoxicillin was my first antibiotic. I had mind blowing headaches on it, but nothing compared to the ones lyme caused me to begin with. It helped me WONDERFULLY. It did cause me extreme agitation though.

Years later Bicillin ( penicillin group yet again) darn near put me in remission of this disease, or at least beat it down enough that it leaves me alone most days.
