Lyme Disease Support Group
Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. It is now one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the U.S. Lyme disease is caused by infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is primarily transmitted to humans as well as dogs, horses and other domesticated animals by the bite of infected ticks.
I am sorry your life has been such a wreck and
that you are having all these symptoms. When I was first
treated for Lyme 15 years ago, my symptoms were somewhat
different. Everyone has different things going on with them.
I had very stiff muscles in my arms to the point where
they would 'freeze up' on me. This would last for 10-15 min
and then stop. I have gotten very painful cramps in my calves
off and on for many years. This happens while I"m sleeping
and wakes me up. I find that if I take magnesium before
going to bed, it usually prevents this from happening. .
People can test negative and still have Lyme.
Are you working with a Lyme Literate doctor? I would
suggest you watch the film "Under Our Skin". Have you
every seen it? I think it's available on Net Flicks and it
used to be available to rent in video stores. It gives you an
idea of what can be involved in the treatment and getting a
doctor to diagnose it. I will just add, that I did not use a lot
of antibiotics to treat mine. Many people do that, especially
in the film but some use herbs and homeopathics.
Hang in there and I hope you will get some
relief very soon. .
