Admitting it's me

I have continued to lie to the person I love most. I am coming to terms that I don't respect her or our relationship...how can I when I continue to withhold information and lie?! I have been called out and caught in my lies, and my wife continues  to stay. I get defensive and try to explain why. I lie about my feelings, I lie about finances. I don't want conflict, I don't want to sit in discomfort, I don't want to upset or cause disruptions. I am hitting the bottom because although she is staying for now, she wants a divorce. She's damaged and hurt because of me. I'm admitting I have chosen to lie, whether it's withholding a feeling or considered a white lie, I've done it and I am a liar. How can I focus on changing when nothing I say to my wife is believable?

Have you tried to go get professional help? Have you both gone to seek therapy? I know what you mean about her being damage and hurt. My love one feels the same way about me but I'm willing to change with his support. Ask her for support if you feel like you don't want to lose her and if you really feel like you're ready to change.

One more thing, you're making progress by admitting your issue and that you're on here trying to seek help.

I'm understanding where you are at. My wife has been hurt by lies I've told. More than anything, she wants me to be honest.

I would say what's helped me is to think and pause for a moment before I speak. Instead of me rushing to say something, it helps when I take a moment to analyze what I to say. Before that, I would be convinced I said something or not fully take in something and I would fill in the blanks by myself whether they were accurate or not.
