The ANA and Anti-Chromatin seem to be 2 lupus markers. If your diagnosis is lupus for sure, I hope your rheumy gets you into his/her office sooner. Maybe you should ask them to contact you if they have any cancellations so that you could move up your appointment. I hope you get your answer quickly, so that you can start treatment. Best wishes.

Thanks Nanny, I did call, they put me on the top of the list for a cancellation, in the meantime I have an appointment with a Urologist on the 16th because I cant empty my bladder all the way.

Ask your urologist to check and see if you have a magnesium deficiency. Also, because lupus likes to attack the kidneys and bladder with inflammation, try to eat anti-inflammatory foods. Best wishes to you.

I am new to this site. I was doing a search for the anti chromatin Ab and saw your post.
I was wondering if you would be willing to share if you got a lupus diagnosis? I am also positive for anti chromatin antibodies with a level of 3, and a low positive ANA of 1:40. Even with these lab results I have not been able to get a diagnosis. I am only being followed. I started out with GI problems, then fatigue, dizziness, heart palpitations, and stinging burning pains. I am very interested in what you have found because I have not come across anyone else with just the anti chromatin antibody. My Dr. really seems to really want my DsDNA antibody to be positive; but its is not. I also wondered if you have gotten any treatment and if anything has helped you? Thank you, RJ

Hi RJ, My Doctor basically said the exact same thing as yours did. Mine suspects what he calls mild Lupus and or MCTD, he did put me on Plaquinil and since my recent blood test came back negative ANA and no antibodies I'm back to square one. Its strange how it is different from my first blood test, meanwhile my joints are hurting so bad. It all very frustrating, I have been trying to get a definite answer to what is wrong with me for 4 years, they had me on the MS road for two years, now I guess I'm on the Lupus road. Nothing can be easy. :( Hope you get your answers soon. ((hugs))

Thank you for responding! This is very frustrating. My doctor said that my anti chromatin level could have been a false positive. I'm going for more blood work soon; strangely they are not retesting the anti chromatin. Personally, it is hard for me not to assume lupus at this point. It's too bad there is not a more definite way to test for this. Anyways, thank you for sharing with me; and I hope we both get the right answer soon.

I know what you mean, every thing I have read about Anti Chromatin AB says it is specific for Lupus Nephritis, but my Lupus Doctor is just blowing it off, so I don't know.
