Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
for most people with lupus, i think we are supposed to stay out of the sun, exercise, eat healthy (low cholesterol heart healthy, low sodium etc) and live a stress free life...
its also important to stay on top of her blood levels and perhaps have a good doctor that can adjust her meds/diet accordingly...certain meds can react differently with your body depending on your diet and overall health (for instance I am on coumadin and its important that i watch my leafy green consumption b/c it binds with it)
my mom gave me a book called "the Lupus Recovery Diet" it was written by a woman who was diagnosed with lupus and after exercise and a strict vegan-whole food diet her lupus went into remission and has many followers who have claimed the same thing. When i talked to my doctor about it she said its not a good idea for ME to cut out all dairy from my diet because i am young and need the calcium but it might work for your girlfriend! its worth a shot anyways if there are so many testimonials. anyways, you should check it out anyways its a short book and an easy read..i hope this helps! ttyl
she seems to have been doing fine but then this past week she is complaining of chest pains and fever. it looks really painful. women generally have a high tolerance for pain too so i know this must be pretty bad. i can hear the shortness of her breath, i read up on it and it sounds like a symptom called pleurosy where the lung sack gets a little fluid build up and starts to make problems.
i appreciate the advices you guys give.
have you any experience with the chest pains? is there any immediate recommendations for this type of flare up? is this a flare up?
