Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. I am newly diagnosed just the beginning of this month. The doctor started me on 400mg planquienil and with in just a few days, my symptoms became worse. No balance -had to start walking with a walker. Slurred speech, Brain fog, excessive sleeping. (22 hours one day)
I understand that a lot of these are symptoms of Lupus, but after consulting with the doctor he took me off the med, within days I began feeling better (as far as the above symptoms. they were still there but much less severe).
I have had several test done and will be getting the results on Tuesday 2-24-15.
My ANA -according to my RA- was not right and diagnosed me based on symptoms alone. (Rash on face, Blue and white fingers and toes, mouth sores, excessive fatigue) but at that time, I could walk with only a limp.
Does this mean it could possibly NOT be Lupus?

Like nanny, I don't think your reaction to a med will be an indication of whether or not you have a disease. Some people can tolerate some drugs, others not. Good luck!
