yea that happens to me A LOT! i have to stop and catch my breath wherever im at then keep going but idk why i still need to talk to my dr about this.. hope everything is well!

I have trouble with this issue too. They sprayed mosquito killer here recently, and when I went out on the carport to get something I had out there, I held my breath.

I started getting light headed right away. It seems I can't hold my breath for more than a few seconds without having serious problems. At one time, I used to be able to free dive for several minutes without coming to the surface for air...it seems those days are gone for sure.

That sounds so awful and scary :( I've not had it but hopefully there will be a simple treatable cause of the problem.

Out of interest- How well do you sleep? Are you waking with headaches? Its just that oxygen saturation levels drop even more when you are sleeping. If you spend any time in hospital or have access to a monitor- get someone to check your oxygen while you are asleep.

(My daughter has scarring on her lungs and her oxygen sats sit at 90 when she is sick- just letting ya know where my 'experience' is from- but she is 11 now and had it since she was a baby- so kid experience and maybe that's not the same for adults)

Also check your iron :) I'm sure you've had this done but I thought I'd put it out there just in case :)

My heart goes out to you tazesmom- being out of breath is such a horrible experience and this must be so scary. I hope you are in good hands and try not to worry :)

I go through periods if feeling that way also, I cannot finish my sentences without stopping to gasp for air. It feels very uncomfortable and it drains me. I usually feel more tired than usual when thus occurs. I've been through heart check ups and pulmonary check ups and all checks out normal.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and advise,mine also comes and goes witch my dr. said was quite troublesome,I am good this am,yesterday was awful,Sparks come to think of it I do wake up sometimes with headaches I was blaming it on a stuffy nose,I will pay attention to see if those are some of my bad days,I also have been very tired but am in the middle of a really rough flare but it would make since that I would be fatigued if my oxygen is low,I live in an area that had lots of fires this summer and it is farm land so they are always spraying that is why my dr. didn't get concerned ,we were blaming it on that but the air is clear now,next test is tuesday I will keep you posted,Cindy

I have the same problem. I have been told that it is because with being on prednisone for over 5 years, I have major weight gain. The pain I'm in makes it hard to exercise. Then I started waking up with major headaches. I have now been diagnosed with sleep apnea and am on a cpac machine at night. I do feel much better. They gave me the machine to do the oxygen test when I was sleeping. They are very concerned that my oxygen level gets so low at night. I have been on the machine for a week now and my pain has lessened greatly. I don't wake up with headaches anymore and my pain is way more manageable without even taking pain meds. I hope you find your solution.

Ask your doc about having a sleep study. Sleep apnea is more common than you think; and yes you could be dropping low at night. My husband has been on a c-pap machine for 6 years and if he slacks off ;he has a bad day to follow. Take care
