Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
Really, I think its about listening to your body, not pushing yourself to hard, not feeling guilty about taking time out to rest, making sure you have all your meds I travel with prednisone even though I don't normally take it, in case I have a flare), avoiding triggers like sunlight and then just relaxing and enjoying your trip.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your travels.
HYDRATE before, on the plane, and after the plane. They'll usually bring you water if you ask.
If you're going to do steroids - ask your doctor for a z-pack to take with you just in case - most will oblige.
WASH YOUR HANDS ALOT.
Don't drink any water that doesn't come from a bottle that's SEALED if you're travelling out of country.
MAKE SURE you have enough meds for the ENTIRE trip plus a few days.
Take frequent rests whether you think you need it or not - by the time you need it...it's too late.
