Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
I'm not even sure I belong int his group anymore since so far, no one can tell me what's wrong with me. I just got the rest of my blood test results back. Here are all of them:
RF: <10
ANA: < 1:40
Sed Rate: 7.0
Metabolic Panel: All within normal range
According to these, I couldn't be more healthy! How then can I be in so much pain everyday? Bilateral joint pain and stiffness in fingers, wrists, elbows and also sometimes knees and toes. Just came on suddenly one day, about 6 months ago. It has been so bad this past week that I have struggled to prepare dinner, do house chores, or any yard work. I just don't understand. I know I can't be imagining all this! Along with that, over the last year I have struggled with muscles pains, dry eyes/mouth, nose/mouth sores, irregular periods, cognitive issues, sleep problems, nausea, weight gain and a few other things. I am afraid the new PCP I am about to see won't take me sriously with such 'normal' blood tests. The only other things I can think of are hormonal issues (I am in my mid-4o's), or hypothyroidism, but that test was normal as well a year ago.
Has anyone just given up on a diagnosis and just realized they'd have to live in pain? How long do I keep trying?

A tree outside where I live is dying, seemingly from dog urine----with the bully in my building going out his way to not only have his dog urinate there but to have the dog urinate on the fence and sign I bought to try save the tree----and then slide the sign under my apt door.Turns out that was a TRIGGER for me----bullying and humialtion right out of high school. I didn't realize it at the...

I am suffering from the inability to cope with ordinary every day things. From my housework to watching tv or reading a book. I get palpatations, nervousness, at the moment my heart is palpatating and all I am doing is typing this. I am so scared its silly, I just want to stay in bed and just get up for meals and coffee. Not that that is going to happen. At the moment I have my daughter...
My blood work always came back negative. My first doctor said that he had a patient for whom it took 20 years for the blood test to show positive. So getting a diagnosis can be quite frustrating.
I have to admit, I left kind of disappointed. I had read how to prepare for your first Rheumotolgy appointment, and this guy didn't do hardly any of the exam that I expected. Maybe I just expected too much. I also wasn't expecting a sudden diagnosis, but I wasn't expecting to be a medical mystery either. I don't think it could be mental, as it all started after my life finally came together and I started feeling happiness again. I guess I will just await the test results that I have a feeling will be normal.
The supplements for my borderline vitamin D and B12 deficiency hasn't changed anything. Two months on progesterone cream also hasn't changed anything. The scariest thing for me is realizing now that at only 44 years old, I will be in pain for the rest of my life with no explanation or relief.
