Pregnancy anyone?

I am 9 weeks pregnant after IVF and 5 years trying to conceive, I am now nervous that lupus will pose a problem as I know it can increase the risk of miscarriage. I take hydroxychloriquine which my rheumatologist has instructed I continue and my lupus is generally under control. I don't really suffer much except sore and swollen joints on and off and that's it really!

I guess I just want to hear if anyone has lupus and has had a successful pregnancy, I don't really want to hear any stories of repeated miscarriage or anything that will make me worry more, just some inspiration!!

There are tests you can take that show that you are more likely to have difficulties. I think you should ask your rheumy or OB about them. Hopefully, you have been tested, but make sure. One treatment is taking a baby aspirin a day, but I'd also ask your rheumy or OB about it. Please be pro-active about this, since you have used IVF and have spent so long trying to conceive. Even if you have any of the factors that make pregnancy difficult, there are treatments that will increase your chances.

First of all congratulations. According to my doctors I have had Lupus all my life (diagnosed in my 40's). I had my first child at 26 and the next 3 years later.

I have never had a miscarriage and the only problems I encountered was placenta praevia (1st pregnancy) and size of baby (2nd) - both were C-section. A- blood type also needed monitoring. So mainly "mechanics" rather than anything else. I delivered 2 healthy boys.

Keep in touch with your doctors and eat healthily, exercise and get plenty of rest. As with everyone....try and keep down stress levels.

All the best and stay positive. Seems when anyone is pregnant people love to relate "pregnancy horror stories"....listen to your common sense and your doctors (forget the rest unless it is useful information/tips).
