Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
Currently I am 17 weeks pregnant.. I was diagnosed with Lupus the day before my first pre natal appointement so this is all very new to me.
Pregnany has been rough on me so far.. but recently i have been having some trouble with my kidneys. A little over a week ago i start having lower back pain.. excruciating pain. I was taken to the hospital and had several abnoralities in my urine like blood, and calcium, white blood cells ect. Many of my blood results were also abnormal but they did not tell me details. I was taken to ultra sound to check for kidney stones, but was sent home with them telling me there was no evidence of stones but that my kidneys were swollen. I went back a few days later to the ER and was emitted with severe pain up in the kidneys (both sides) I stayed for 2 days then was sent home.. The doctors can not run tests because I am pregnant but are ASSUMING I have kidney stones now.. and are just making me wait it out..
I am in a lot of pain and now having a feeling of pressure in my bladder.. Wondering if anyone has been through anything like this. I am starting to become worried.
By the way WBC in urine but no bacteria grew so they are saying no infection/UTI..

Inflammation is a symptom of Lupus too.....And they could be swollen because of stones...if you are feeling pressure and leaking urine....it could be just stones and they are "painful" when they pass.
I'm sorry your so upset....just remember....you wouldn't be home if they thought you were in danger.
I have a sense you will be ok and that because this is all new to you - you are both emotionally and physically very sensitive right now.
Try to read or watch something that will take your mind off the panic. :(
