Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
You may have several different things going on and they may not all be related to a possible mixed connective tissue disease. A deep vein thrombosis is a DVT and it is serious. If you have pain in the leg/foot that is swollen I would get the doppler test done NOW. Have you had it done yet? If you have bad blood flow to your feet it could also cause sores. I am at high risk of clotting so I know the signs.
Im a bit confused here and I apologize. Have you been told that you have cytomegalovirus and can this virus make you feel sick? If you were given anti-biotics for a virus and you dont take them then you will not know if all your symptoms are due to this virus. There are several viruses that mimic RA and Lupus symptoms almost identically (lyme disease, rocky mountain spotted fever, etc) and unless its treated properly it will not go away. Some of these viruses if left untreated can also trigger auto immune diseases. I know that anti-biotic side effects can stink but you really need to take them if they may help with the way you feel and to get rid of this virus. If the cyto virus is whats making you sick (i will have to google it as I have no idea what it is) then plaquenil or the other drugs they use to treat mixed connective tissue disease will not help you. You may need the antibiotics in order to get better. Then, once that has been resolved you will know what symptoms you still have that may not have been caused by that virus. DId that make sense?
Boys just woke up so I gotta run.
Hugs and hang in there
I do think there is some problems with the PAD thing and possibly CAD also---(isnt that where the arms are involved?) as I have been having a lot of thigh pain that has started up over summer and was NEVER there before. Plus all the other stuff you read about. Funny how I always thought those sores were spider bites..... I just called my nephro because I want to take all the tests necessary for lupus. I really think I could have that or even that antiphospholipid thing you have. I am going to do research on it. I basically begged the girl to call me back because I have dealing with the fear of lupus for so many years now and and I just want to tfind out. Im sick and tired of being sick and tired. I go to my moms house and it is so damn hot there because they are so old fashioned and keep the AC like on 81. So I just am miserable the whole time I am there. Well my last day there I started getting very sick around 4 am , with just about everything imaginable. I just felt like I was dying and then finally around lunch I could get out of bed but was sick all day. Today is Tuesday and I am still sick. I drove about 18 miles to the hospital for the tests today and when he was doing the test I was feeling so exhausted I literally was falling asleep. I felt like an old lady! Anyway, I dont know what I am going to do but I tell you one thing Luv, we are crazy fools if we dont keep health journals. I realize that now. I used to keep health journals and then when I would feel slightly better I would quit. What a fool! Live and learn. BTW---when your in a flare do your eyes hurt and turn completely red? Mine always do. Wondering if anyone elses do? Take care and thanks for everything. Oh yeah the chronic cyto just causes symptoms of a headache, neck ache and thats it. I know those symptoms now because I have them all the time and they are different from the other headaches I get. Thanks for caring and catching stuff for me. Your friend, Tamye
