I'm currently 29 weeks pregnant and the closer that I get to my due date the more worried I seem to get on how much pain I will be in after child birth. The rheumatologist that i see doesn't seem to know exactly what medication to put me on after the baby is here.
Is there any suggestions as to what I can do to ease the pain for afterwards or any medication recommendations that I can look into?
I am currently taking plaquenil, but it seems to be doing nothing for my pain and joint swelling, even before pregnancy it seemed to barely work.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions anyone may have.

Hi, ckayla, and welcome. I can't suggest medication, but I can suggest that you keep a food and health log. Keep track of what you eat and how you feel, because it might show a connection between certain foods and a worsening of symptoms. For instance, I can't eat gluten or artificial sweeteners, etc. Wishing you well and a good recovery after you give birth, so that you can take care of the beautiful baby you will have.

I'm on Gabapentin 300 mg 3 times a day for pain. It was helping for a while, but now I'm having a flare so it's not doing quite as much. Might help, possibly?

Out of curiosity, what did they tell you about the plaquenil during pregnancy? I'm on that as well and I've wondered what they would want me to do when I get pregnant.

Prednisone has helped me a lot with my lupus. In fact I have had some days were I cried cause I felt normal.
