Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
Doctors never see me when I have the rash, because I don't work outside and then go to a doctor's appointment. So they totally disregard anything I say about getting rashes...obviously they don't believe that a rash can appear and disappear like that.
Well, in a way that goes around in a circle...they don't believe anything I say, so I don't believe anything they say anymore. Trust has a way of doing that...or lack of it. And it's interesting to see how upset they get when they notice that I'm disregarding what they say...can't take what they dish out, I guess...not my problem. I'm not the only person who feels this way, I find that more and more people are becoming very distrustful of doctors where I live.
If anyone wants me to trust them, they have to earn my trust.
As for the rashes, I find that a cool shower helps a lot. I think it removes the salt from the skin, which is an irritant...and cools the body to reverse the inflammatory response. Aloe lotion is something that also seems to help with any kind of skin problems.
I have buckets of the aloe lotion so I'm glad you said that works, I will have to give that a go. I have also started taking pictures with my phone of my face when my rash gets bad and I will show my doctor the pictures the next time I get in to see him, I did that one time when one of my kids broke out in hives and 45 minutes later when I was in the ER and the doctor finally got in the room the rash was gone but I had a time stamped picture on my phone that validated my store I did find it kind of maddening the look he gave me before I wiped out the picture.
I have noticed that even if I am not exposed to the sun, if I am just getting really hot my rash will start to show up. It's really wild, I have a social phobia of speaking in public and with my job they have been asking me to go and speak in front of a lot of people. I am really good at what I do but after 10 or 15 minutes up there with them staring at me I really start freaking out and my rash glows red the higher my body temp goes up.
