Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
I too have lupus, but it seems that yours is more intense than mine, involving RA. I note that you've only mentioned the joints, and not other organs. I occasionally have joint pain when the weather is wet and humid, but otherwise I am mostly OK. Have you tried taking calcium and vit D supplementation because the combination has substantially reduced my joint pain? I also eat dairy food as well, so I don't have flaring of joint pain that often (e.g once every 3-6 months more likely). Eat lots of green vegetables and fruits, and avoid the nightshades.
If you are still able too, regular exercise also reduce joint and muscle pain. You don't have to go to a gym; just a simple walk for 30 minutes each day is sufficient to reduce joint and muscle pain. Please keep us posted of how you are doing. This Lupus group is not very active, but I have the alerts on to notify me of new posts. Best wishes, Marie.
