I have a question for yall. When I get sick (like a cold)... For about 3 days before I Have Major muscle, joint and lung pains.. sometimes I sware my heart even hurts when it beats during these days... I just feel lowsy.. I feel like i have a fever (I usually do have a low grade one).. muscle weakness etc... then I get sick.. even my eye muscles hurt,... and headaches.. this never used to be the case, unless it was the flu.. before I got sick.. now it's EVERY single time!!!

Does this happen to anyone else?? I am miserable, with awful aches right now.. and all the above symptoms.. My kids have had a cold, so I'm sure i'm getting it .. boo

Hi Bny,

Most of those symptoms- can be caused by the fever itself.
Fever can cause muscle and joint pains, muscle weakness and headaches. Sometimes your pulse can increase as well which may be why you are noticing your heart beating.

Perhaps you are more sensitive to fevers or the cold bugs themselves than you used to be. I know colds hit me way harder than they used to and I often end up with infections because of them. I would watch the lung pains though- they can't be explained by the fever itself unless its more your ribs hurting.

If you are feeling heart or lung pain, you should check with your doctors, or even go to the ER. Heart pains can be serious.

Yes, I feel the same aches and pains that you do when I am becoming sick. Most of the time I just feel lousy with the aforementioned aches and pains so then I know it is time to start the "NyQuil" at night and "DayQuil" during the day....it usually goes away if I start the meds as soon as I start feeling the aches and pains. However this year, the flu hit me all at once without the aforementioned aches and pains. It hit me like a ton of bricks!!

Thanks yall! It's strange, i never actually got sick.. so not sure if my body was just fighting it off, and that stimulated my immune system (overstimulated)... I just had my IVIG.. so I am hoping for good reliefe here in the next few days!

Absolutely! I'm very much the same. One word of warning - with the heart pain ("feel my heart beating") you need to get to a doctor fast. That can be myocarditis, endocartitis,or pericarditis - each something you need fast treatment for.

Each time,for me, it was one of these culprits when I could feel my heart beating and it hurt.

Don't take any chances.

I find that my body does give me warning signs that a bug is trying to settle in(flu, cold, etc). I've gotten to be attuned to those things & I'll take whatever action I can to minimize it or prevent it to the best of my ability.
My doctor always has reinforced to me that living with lupus can easily mean that you can feel many times more sick with a bug then most other people will.
