Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
I am very sorry that this personal upheaval causes you such terrible flares, but unfortunately that is what SLE/MCTD is all about: our flares are most of the time caused by personal distressing upheavals...
I went through a similar experience and the only thing I could do was to take time off and take a rest on the sofa (I called it my "being parked on the sofa") and I watched silly films and whilst watching those silly films, I thought about all the things that bothered me and slowly I came to terms with my loss...
...Of course, everyone acts differently, but I thought that this way was better for my health in the long term, as it prevented me to take "heavy medicines" i.e. corticosteroids at the time and after a little while the flare-up dimmed down a lot and I was able again to get on with my life...
I send you my best wishes and all the best from Kristina.
... and please let us know how you are getting on...
