There does seem to be some link with EB virus and Lupus. I think nearly everyone who has Lupus has had it before. But I've also read that 95% of the population has been infected at some point.

I had it when I was 15 and then told it reoccurred when I was 19. I always test positive for a past infection.

And the Epstein Barr virus is the one that causes Mono/glandular fever.

Epstein Barr kicked off my autoimmune response and then it went into overdrive.I have Hoshimotos,sjogrens,and lupus.It took 8 yrs. for a diagnosis of ss and lupus.The Hoshimotos was almost directly after the EB virus.I guess many things can set off the immune system but for me it was EB virus(my doc says, it is always some sort of virus that kicks off autoimmune.)

Mono is caused by the EB virus. I'm in somewhat stagnate process of diagnosing lupus also, but I started having consistent health problems after being diagnosed first with mono, then with chronic mono when it still showed active almost a year after I was first diagnosed. My doctors here in the States kind of just threw their hands up and said they couldn't do anything for it, then when I went to S.Amer. my husband talked me into seeing an herbalist who actually did get the constantly-feeling-like-I-had-the-flu feeling under control and I finally stopped experiencing the constant swelling in the lymph nodes in my head/neck. But my health has never been right since, I have always continued to have issues with internal inflammation ever since, and all of this culminating in blood clots from which I nearly died, which has just made things that much worse with the damage those did. But yes, my experience seems to show a connection between the two things. And I actually never had mono until I was 30, and there was a very definite, marked difference in the 'healthy me' prior to mono and the 'constantly sick me' after. Until I had the blood clots, I used to always try to laugh it off and joke about always being sick, and I'd say, "Well you know it's just dumb stuff, nothing life-threatening." Can't say THAT anymore.

I have been sick since my late teens off and on,feeling like I had the flu.my legs hurting really bad ,back pain,migraines,brain fog,extreme fatigue,ache joints,but it would come and go,15yrs ago I was diagnosed with Fibro,I thought finally an answer,and I kept getting worse.it wasn't until after i had mono for 1 1/2yrs.that I was finally diagnosed with R.A. thats when my blood started to change,but I never made a connection until yesterday,now I seem to be collecting diagnoses monthly
