I've experienced dizziness myself and have had vertigo a couple of times. I see a neotologist now. They are specialists in ear/balance problems. The weather (barometric pressure) can really do a number on my balance, too, as can any infection involving my sinuses. I haven't seen a rheum. when it's happened so I don't know of any blood work changes. That gives me something to think about. I hope you feel better soon, Barbara. You may want to lay down as much as possible until this passes.

That sounds like vertigo to me. If it starts when your are just sitting there and everything spins. The ringing in the ears can be related. There really are so many things it could be and you would have to see some specialists to get it figured out. If it really is bothering you try an ENT. I hope you get it sorted out. I get dizziness but nothing to where the room is spinning.

I have had vertigo and doctor put me on meds, but with vertigo the room spins, you throw up and are down in bed. I get dizzy all the time, but the spinning is inside my head now and doctor and rheumy are not sure why, but maybe it is from the swelling in the body. I also get headaches everyday. Vertigo is very diff from the dizzy spells i get now.
I hope you can get past this, but maybe it is something we will always deal with. Deb

I was wondering about vertigo. but i don't throw up just dizzy and off balance. Sometimes fall into wall..I know survillence thinks i'm drunk sometimes when they watch me walking down hall and then oops the wall..lol..just gotta live with it.

If it's vertigo, it will be worse with your eyes closed. You will really feel off balance and can easily fall if you close your eyes. If you have a vertigo attack while standing fix your eyes straight ahead and believe what your eyes are telling you (that you are standing up, that the room really isn't moving) rather than the spinning sensation caused by the middle ears. Definitely open your eyes if you are in the shower when it hits!

Pre-illness, I was an instrument flight instructor. The number one cause of private aviation accidents is vertigo that occurs when a pilot who is not trained to fly on instruments flies into clouds. They get disoriented, and get vertigo, which causes them to believe that the airplane is turning or spinning when it isn't. It's such a powerful feeling that inexperienced and untrained pilots have driven their airplanes into the ground to make corrections they shouldn't have made.

To combat vertigo, which is an aviation term in the first place, pilots are trained to rely only on their eyes. No matter how convinced they are by the vertigo that they are flying upside down they must do whatever their eyes tell them will make the instruments read right even though every impulse is to do the opposite.

There can be viral reasons for this labyrinthitis, the medical term, too. Meclazine is usually prescribed, although obviously I never took that when I was flying. But since I've been sick I've taken meclazine once for vertigo. It helps.

I had similar symptoms early on in my diagnosis. My doc gave me temporary meds for vertigo and it went away pretty quickly. I think mine was just a side effect from the plaquenil. Good luck. I hope it passes soon for you.

Hi Yes I get them everyday. The weather affects me also. Doctors have no reason why. I hope you get better and find out what is the cause.

i've actually quit having them as often..got off the lyrica...i think that was my main problem...hope you feel better!
