Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. I love D.S. it is my safe place I can talk to people who understand who get what I go through every day,I like this sight because I can follow a subject instead of it disappearing right away like on other sights,we are all here for help and support, I went for 37 +years without a dx. and was treated like I was crazy,depressed,a hypochondriac for so very long,why ?because my blood had not changed,I had one dr. that believed me and kept pushing,I wish I had found D.S. along time ago,the way I was treated for so long has left a permanent scare on my soul,now I am reading posts that are less than nice let alone supportive to new members,I feel their pain just like when it was me,if you have a problem with a member send them a pm don't air it for everyone and if you don't like what some one is saying block them! We are not doctors(well maybe Summer)we can not dx. all we can do is listen,be supportive and be there for everyone who needs a friend to understand,for so many of us our dx. journey has been very long lets help others who are still struggling with theirs,Cindy
I know this is partly directed at me, and I'm sure that the full story is not clear to those who haven't read private messages I've received but my interest was to help the new posters.
It's not fair for any of us to say that yes the person does (or doesn't for that matter!) have Lupus. We can only speak about our own experiences. And I think our first suggestion should always to be to see a doctor.
I'm aware that the tone of these posts can sometimes lead people to assume a different message than was intended. Which of course can't be helped when you're typing online.
I think I'll be making a swift exit for the door here. I don't feel welcome in this forum after the private messages I've received and I hope I'm not the only one.
