I write lists & put my appointments on my iPad. I also take an aspirin a day. It helps your blood flow to your brain and seems to help. In the past plaquenil seemed to help. Also, prednisone seems to help.

Yes to the brain fog, which seems to be part of several autoimmune diseases. Like AnnNY I make notes and lists--both digital and paper. Whenever I'm doing something on my stovetop, such as boiling eggs, I set a timer so that I don't forget about "what's cooking." Also, I set up reminders in Outlook to help me remember what is happening on a given day.

I have this too, I used to think it was blood sugar, but the brain fog didn't coincide with the low blood sugar when tested. plaquenil used to help, but now the fog is rolling back in. It is like being in a fog sometimes, like you are not fully conscious of what is going on around you. I never used to write things down, but now I have started making lists of things to remember.

I am a fan of taking aspirin to help but I have had issues with vasculitis. I have a terrible memory but "forget" that it is like that!! makes it hard to remember to use a diary! I do try to use it and also ask others to remind me of things. I use alarms a lot!

Yeh--I forget to look at my lists, but I'm pretty good at checking my calendar so I don't miss appointments. I downloaded a memory app, but it was too complicated for me to figure out. And I used to be the one fixing everyone's computer! Very frustrating.

Pill-minder, alarms, lists, post-its, and phone calls from relatives to remind me of important stuff.

Yes, I have gone through fog-flare-up-times like that as well and it can be very annoying and frustrating, especially when I have to attend appointments etc. and I don't want to appear as if I am "not quite there"...
The best for me was always to first take a hot bath and relax as much as is possible and then make sure to write everything down in a special day-to-day-calendar to make sure I won't forget anything... I also write down special points I must make when going to an appointment and i take the paper with all the points written down with me...I also write down instantly when I need anything from my day-to-day-shopping, to make sure I won't forget anything there either...
As I have said, it can cause frustration and it can be annoying, but fortunately it only lasts a little while for as long as the flare-up lasts...
To keep my "grey cells" continuing as best as they can under the flare-up-circumstances, I have started many years ago, to work on and try to solve my weekly crosswords... It is also a very encouraging past time, because nice prices can be won... and it is a welcome inspiration for my grey cells to continue working as alert as is possible, whenever I don't feel my usual alert self...

If I did not have Adderall, I would not be able to get out of bed from the sheer exhaustion of our illnesses, and I would not have the minor amount of mental faculty that I have.
Lupus fog and confusion makes me: leave water running in the sink and walk away from it, I have rinsed off a night light and almost plugged it back into the wall while it was wet, I constantly forget what I'm saying in the middle of a sentence, and more. I've been to a neuro and there isn't much they can do. Apparently, as our disease flares and lessens, the fog does, too.

Neurologists aren't much help I'm afraid. They can tell you what it "isn't" but they can't really do anything about it.

I once got lost on my way to work - a route I drove for almost 15 years. I was petrified. A neuro told me I might have "early onset alzheimer's" turns out, I had neurological lupus. It's scary, but it will pass with treatment.

They should be able to do a cat scan of the brain, and check the blood flow I think that is what causes the brain fog, lack of blood flow in parts of the brain.

Cat scans and MRIs don't really show blood flow in the brain, unless there is a big clot or damage, although people with CNS lupus will often show some brain changes.

Sorry, that would be a SPECT scan.

I get brain fog just reading about this test!
But of course, they have no cure for brain fog, but at least they have figured out what to look for.
