I apologize for any preceived pettiness up front. Please be kind as I am feeling so low right now. Don't want to go outside, Want husband to hurry back to work, wish Burkas were stylish in the US.

I am horribly broke out.

I don't really have lesions, I don't really have acne. I have subcutaneous cysts. I look like a disfigured creatin.

I tried a natural remedy, ProNexin. Sending it back today. Back to ProActive, which doesn't work that well either. Just a choice of being a scaly, reptile looking woman (ProActive) to a acne riddled 46 year old woman.

I am so sorry you are having such a horrible time of it right now. Are you on medications? Did they do biopys of skin? I cannot offer much help. Just some gentle hugs coming your way. Marilyn

I didn't have this in relation to Lupus, but I still get cystic acne every now and then. That is the worst kind under the skin. When I had problems breaking out I tried Proactive for awhile and it made no difference to my face at all. I think hormones have a big influence in skin problems. I know they can be painful, and hard to maintain once you get them and stay hanging on forever. There are some good make up products made by Estee Lauder you could try it is strong enough to cover a tatoo but doesn't look like makeup. It doesn't clog the pores and helps with dry flaky skin. Don't feel bad I am in today too.

I also get the cyctic acne. Mine is not related to the lupus. I have gotten them since I was a teenager and they are awful not only because they look so red but because they HURT so badly. At one time I had to get cortisone injections in them because they surrounded my mouth/chin and I couldnt even open my mouth without tearing up (crying). I feel for you, sleepy.Have you tried Tea Tree oil on the cycts yet? This may be worth a try. There was only ONE product that helped take away these cycts which was made by neutrogena. It worked wonders, I sware..Unfortunately, they stopped making it :( If they dont go away, you may want to see a dermatologist. Besides the neutrogena stuff, the injections were the only other thing that worked for mine. Another good cover up product is called DERMABLEND which is for scars. Works great and I think they sell it at JC Penny. Hang in there...

As soon as I read your post I was going to recommend the tea tree oil; thanks Melissa. You are right, the cystic acne hurts like all get out. As soon as I feel one, I keep applying the tea tree oil. Hope this helps and you feel better. Kim

From time to time I also will get cystic acne. I too use tea tree oil for spot treatment. I also use a bar soap called "Coal Face" from Lush cosmetics. It has helped me tremendously-I absolutely love their line of products. Take care.

I am going to Penny's after work for the Dermablend, I wonder if that is the one made by Estee Lauder?

The Tea Tree oil, what brand and where would I get that.

I use to be on birth control and Retin A, which kept my skin clear. I have blood issues with Lupus and can not take the Accutane or Birth Control anymore.

My insurance won't cover dermatology. I found a generic Retin A they will cover. Now I am scared how bad it gets before it gets better with that stuff but will try that as last effort.

You ladies made my day bearable. I work in a professional environment and have to face people all day. Gonna go pull up my big girl panties, plaster on some make up and get through this 8 hours, then off for these suggestions. Thanks again!
