Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
I can relate to you so well with the losing weight issues. I know what I need to do and then I don't follow through. Those of us with autoimmune issues sometimes suffer from depression and in order to feel better sometimes indulge in the things that make us feel better. For me it is the comfort that food gives me and I overeat. I struggle with this everyday, just as you struggle with eating everything and drinking and not exercising. We all need to forgive ourselves for not taking the best care we can of our already stressed bodies. Tomorrow is another new day and we can just do our best to live life healthier. Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone!
Hugs and Prayers,
Jo
I get the life sucks attitude and have to remind myself that my poor body needs me to be good to it, even if my mind doesn't care anymore.
Grab those boot straps and try to take good care :)
When we are tired, and feeling bad, it is so easy to make bad choices.
No one is perfect all the time. My acupuncturist once told me, when she gave me a suggested eating plan for lupus, that she did not want me to aim for perfection, she wanted me to aim for about 80%, since that was about all she could ever expect.
And sometimes we just plain old feel defeated by lupus. I know I do.
I think it helps to batch prepare good foods, so they are handy in the fridge. I'll try to chop some extra veggies and mini pack them in the fridge so all I have to do is yawn and grab. Or make a giant pot of veg soup on the weekend and have it for several days. Otherwise, I'd be eating out of the gutter lol.
But I'm going to start weight watchers this week and I've gotten rid of most of the alcohol in my house and bad food. just to help my non-existant willpower. I kept some because I know i'm going to need a treat now and then. I keep telling myself that I can do it!
